ORANGE, CALIFORNIA - OC ANIMAL CARE

******Frightened Chow-Corgi and Chow-Jindo******

Looks like one may be a chow/Jindo. They are afraid!  Can anyone help?  We all know dogs that show behavior like this at shelters and are fine once out and loved. Please network as beyond urgent. See below.

A1268772 – Chow Corgi – Needs placement by tomorrow at 7 pm.  Hides in back of the cage and growls.  Charges staff when they enter the cage for cleaning/feeding.  There is definitely some type of shorter breed mixed in.  These are the best photos I could get.

A1268876 – Has mammary mass, possibly tumor.  Needs placement with rescue now.  Will likely not
be extended due to medical issue and temperament.  Is not currently set for euthanasia, but could be at any time.

Nina is an owner surrender. Her owners had her for a month and decided that another dog was too expensive, so now she’s looking for a new forever home. Nina is a playful little girl. She loves toys, but her favorites are stuffed. She would chase balls but was happiest when I tossed a stuffed toy. She’d bring it back to her spot under the bench every time. Each time I threw it, she was up and running. I bet she fetched that squirrel ten times before I decided that we both needed a break on such a hot day. Nina is sweet and affectionate. Her owners stated that she’s good with kids and got along with a male dog at home. Nina really is a perfect little puppy. Come meet this sweetie today. Maybe you can give Nina the forever home she needs!

Paulo and Rio are super friendly dogs. Since they share a kennel and are both eager to come out, I did spend a little time trying to leash them. Once they were leashed, however, they were easy to walk together.

Nellie is a real catch for any person or family. She is an absolute sweetheart of a dog – even the staff at the shelter took the time to make a note on her info sheet about what a sweet girl she is. She greeted me perfectly quietly and politely, and walked like a pro on the leash – no pulling at all, and stayed right by my side.

A volunteer that takes pictures and videos for us, commented:
On my way out I asked a tech and front desk about mom and pups.  They are thought to be about 5 wks old. They are still there today and momma's date is not here yet.  She was friendly and had easily let a tech in her kennel to put her pups back in bin, when I saw her a few days ago.

Please be careful....many dogs are being pulled from this shelter and placed on huge transports going out of state and out of the country never seen or heard of again.

Please check and authorize all dogs going to a qualified rescue group which works with families and rescues with proven track records.

Chance, a dog who has been w/out a home for over half of his life -  382 days at the shelter!

August 13, 2013 - What exactly does it take to find a sheltered dog a home?
Professional photos which show a dog at their best? Photos which allow a dog's true personality to shine through?
Chance, a two-year-old bull terrier mix has beautiful, professional photos, but they have not lured an adopter.
Does it require a facility which will give a dog enough time to find a potential home?
Chance has spent over half of his young life at the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center in Rockwall, Texas, but during the past year (plus) nobody has been found.

    Lowball rescue...$100 bucks a day

Reunion Rescue is out there panhandling again. It costs us a lowball $100 bucks a day to keep our heads afloat. Boarding alone is $250 a month and until we can make some adoptions here in Texas, we must keep our California dogs in boarding.

Once a couple of adoptions happen here, we can move some of the Cali dogs to our sanctuary here and get them ready to place. Until then, it's $100 bucks a day.

Where do we get the money? Well, mostly from the generosity of our donators, selling a couple of books and a tee shirt, but between juggling the dogs here, exercising, feeding and training, fundraising is difficult to say the least.

BeBe and Peanut need herbal tinctures to help them move past the issues incurred at Spindletop. We'll get there, but $65 a bottle is expensive.

We took a big hit at the vet for Nolan which could have been bypassed, but wound up at the wrong vet....ch-ch-ch-ch-ching...went the cash register and emptied out Reunion's reserve. They did leave us a big fat tick on his chest....was that a tip?

We took another hit on one of our sanctuary cats to the tune of $1K at the conventional vet. The homeopathic treatment is trying to undo the damage done at the regular vet, but no guarantees. Amber, Pip and the rest of the dogs need to be fed which along with sanctuary cats and birds adds up to about $10 a day on a slow day.

Crates, kennels, collars, leashes, toys, Kongs, chews....all these things cost money. We got a wonderful donation of dog beds from our good friend Kathi, but still need tarps for the deck and would love to have some raised beds for the outdoor day kennels.

The sanctuary cats have chewed their furniture to the bare bones and are down to one halfway decent kitty condo. Please consider a donation to help our kitties. We have two chip-in's going..one for the kitties:

    http://reunionrescue.chipin.com/cat-sanctuary-condos

    And another chip-in for Nolan:

    http://reunionrescue.chipin.com/nolans-chip-in-fund

    We also need volunteer help.
    • We need photographers in the bay area who might be willing to take a photo or two of our wonderful California dogs.
    • We need help with our networking on the internet.
    • We need help in Austin at some local events.

Please help Reunion Rescue help our current animals until they find those forever homes. We just know they're out there.

    Here are our Texas dogs:
