Saving Pokey and Princess...how rescue works

Princess
Reunion Rescue pulled Princess from high kill Moreno Valley shelter. She was 7 and blind. The
Pokey
minute she was safely out of the shelter and placed into boarding, Princess, like so many valley dogs, came down with distemper.

The boarding facility was forced to quarantine her and she has needed three months of very expensive medication to treat the illness. Reunion Rescue was already stressed financially, but Princess's illness has really put Reunion in the red.

Yesterday, we were contacted by a long time adopter who's 4 year old son found a stray pit bull. They had hoped the puppy would be adopted, but once at the shelter, he contracted a severe case of kennel cough. We managed to save him in the nick of time and get him into foster care. His name is Pokey.

Pokey has a vet appointment today and we're hoping it's just that, a bad case of kennel cough and not a severe illness like Princess's distemper.

Reunion is filled to the brim with Texas and Cali dogs right now at the refuge and can't handle another
huge expense.

We've created Pokey a chip in fund to raise money for his vet and spay/neuter expenses.
