Just Plain Wrong!

Cat haters killing innocent cats in Texas:

Its been taken down off facebook.  They do have a wildlife connect page, but its totally changed up.  This is the phone number they show on their new page (206) 222-1975.  It doesn’t say anything about the “colony removal project” anymore.

ARLINGTON, TEXAS

Don't let Lana die just because she only has one eye!!!

This is Lana.  Taken to the Arlington Shelter with a ruptured eye.  A friend of mine paid for her eye surgery and got her off the kill list.  Lana a.k.a. One Eye, is a female black pit bull.  Lana is getting ready to get put back on the kill list b/c her two weeks is almost up.  Guys let’s not let this happen. Lana is in need of immediate foster.  We are working on getting boarding set up so we may have some time.  Problem 1- big black dog, Problem 2- pit bull,  Problem 3- only has one eye.  I

believe she will get her temperament test this weekend around other dogs,  she is very sweet to humans.  If there is a rescue willing to accept Lana or courtesy post her would greatly appreciate it.  If not, then please share with everyone you know.  There are not a lot of things I know or am good at in this world, but I do know dogs, especially the Pit Bull, ABPT, American Staffordshire Terrier, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and they make wonderful companions in the right hands.  Anything you can do to help, share, etc.. is greatly appreciated.   Let’s not let Lana (One Eye) die.

BROOKLYN, NYC

WILL DIE TOMORROW!!!!
FROSS ★ (A0971472)

Brooklyn Center
Fross is a very good boy! Surrendered by his owners and now without a home to call his own, poor Fross sits in the Brooklyn ACC kennel wondering how he got in this predicament. A baby at only 11 months, this male brindle and white pit bull mix has a softness to his face and eyes that say “please let me be your friend.” He has extended his gesture of friendship to the ACC staff.

They deemed Fross friend-worthy and labeled him as a dog who allows petting and handling. This gentle soul would be a gem to take home and into your heart is our guess. Fross is a 55 pound sweetie who has a good appetite as noted by the ACC staff. Even though his surroundings might be not the best, he is not letting that get him down!

He wants to keep himself in good shape for when he DOES leave very soon with his new family! Friendly, lovable and healthy Fross has been placed on the ACC euthanasia list tonight. We can’t let that happen! Please help Fross get out of the ACC alive. He is lovable, friendly and too young to leave the earth so soon. Fross doesn’t deserve to die and we are his only hope. Act now!
TO BE DESTROYED - 08/17/13

Sweet Mandy loves and then loves some more. A grateful girl who will always be there for

you. Mandy does well with the other pups around here and really likes humans too. Mandy would love to have a sofa to call her own and a kind hand to rub her chin. Okay, I spoke with Elizabeth from the shelter and this girl is the total package. She is spayed, heartworm negative and on prevention, all her shots, wormed and loved by the entire shelter staff who want her to go to only the best family.

They literally love this girl and are very protective of her! One of the few times I have heard a shelter so head over heels about one of their dogs . . . she has stolen their hearts! Please consider adoption this girl has it all! They are trying to work out something to have her cherry eyes addressed. What a sweetheart!l  Volunteer and staff favorite and thrives on love and attention. You can make Mandy your very own girl and a happy hound to boot!

STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT

Elcie is a beautiful Shar Pei mix who is 60lbs, 4 years old and deaf. She has had regular vet visits and is up-to-date on all shot with paperwork. She has been with us, her current owners, since she was 4 months old when we adopted her. She has grown up with two Yorkies and a cat, but can no longer be in a home smaller animals. Though she has also never had any issues with people, it is also required that she not be in a home with small children.

She is a very sweet and loving dog that loves attention and wants to be where ever you are. She is always generous with kisses and loves to cuddle, if you allow her on the bed or couch. If you don't, she curls up in a ball on her dog bed and is happy too. Being that she is deaf has its advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages is she is a very solid sleeper and only reacts to vibration, she does not bark at every noise in the night. Also, being deaf, you can name her what ever you like. Disadvantages are she requires a back yard that is fenced in and must always walk her on a leash. She is a very energetic dog, so a backyard is a must. Please feel free to call me with any questions at six one seven, four eight zero, sixty-five zero nine. You can also email me by responding to this listing. Thank you.

Family abandons purebred lab...going to pound.

From: Susan Pursell <depursel@yahoo.com>

Cell 770-876-5643
Conyers, GA 30013

Hello,  Toby's still running free around our houses and Toby's family have another new dog to go with

He's a smart dog with a lot of lab in him.  When I take our dogs to the creek, he puts his head under water, something ours don't do.  Sure sign of a lab.  So, I told them we both need to work at finding him a home, since Toby will not stay in his yard unless chained up.  From what his owners say, we are part of the problem because when ours are out, even though we are with them, his dogs want to come out.  I don't agree with that totally, but I'll go along if it will help.  We will have to do our part to rectify this situation.  My hope is, Toby will learn to stay with his family and they will neuter him.  I told them it would help.

In the mean time, if you know of someone that would like a good companion, that deserves to be with someone that gives him the attention he craves, then please, please give them my e-mail address.
the one they got to keep Toby company.  None are neutered or spayed that I know of.  I did inform them that chaining was illegal in our county.  He said they come inside with them and can run in the yard.  Seems Toby is the bad seed and digs under to visit us!  We live in an area that backs up to a creek that leads to a river, so there's lost of forest to venture into.  I just had a conversation with the owners.  We are in agreement that Toby needs another home, but it cannot be mine!  I have 9 animals to take care of and I told him that.  He said he will feed him and try to coax him into the yard.  We have to change some of what we do by keeping our dogs up for a while, so Toby will hopefully see that mine are not coming out to play anymore.  He has dug under my fence to get in my yard, so I don't know how that's going to go.

Family pet dumped at animal control..please save Sam before it is too late! Hopefully, Sam's family won't be moving into your neighborhood.

Sam A457356 was surrendered to animal control when his owners moved to an apartment with size restrictions. Sam is a big, lovable guy. At 8 years old, he is very stressed here at the shelter and needs rescue ASAP! He is already neutered and microchipped. We've updated his vaccines and he is heartworm negative. Sam loves his squeaky toys and adores people. He is currently being treated for a severe ear infection. He will recover much better if he can get out of here. Can you help Sam?

Beautiful owner surrendered Rottie girls:
Please help me find a home or rescue for these two beautiful girls before it's too late!

CASSIE:  PET ID 46945 (OWNER SURRENDER)

Cassie
Cassie and Gypsy (above) were dumped together and now they're both looking for new digs!  Cassie is a 3 yr young Rottie girl and she will be waiting for YOU to fall in love with her and bail her outta jail!

Gypsy
I guess Gypsy and her pal, Cassie, were dumped for the "crime" of being too big, cuz they stated that Gypsy and Cassie would prefer a home without young children. Really?  They're Rotties, for heaven's sake!  "Big" is not synonymous with "unfit" for young children!!!  I think a better description would be "prefers a home where people understand that Rotties are just big 'ole love bugs"!!!   Anyway, Gypsy is only 5 yrs young and she is hoping to find a home with Cassie, but she will be happy if they each find a FOREVER home where they will be loved for who they are, size and all!

Note:  At the Denton Animal Shelter euthanasia is determined by space, health, and temperament of the dog and they do not have a specific day they euthanize.  Therefore, I don't always know when or which dogs will be euthanized so I try to get as many dogs out as I can cuz time is of the essence!

As always, if you are not able to help, please forward this email to your contacts.  Remember, a click forward can save a life no matter where you live!

Saving Pokey and Princess...how rescue works

Princess
Reunion Rescue pulled Princess from high kill Moreno Valley shelter. She was 7 and blind. The
Pokey
minute she was safely out of the shelter and placed into boarding, Princess, like so many valley dogs, came down with distemper.

The boarding facility was forced to quarantine her and she has needed three months of very expensive medication to treat the illness. Reunion Rescue was already stressed financially, but Princess's illness has really put Reunion in the red.

Yesterday, we were contacted by a long time adopter who's 4 year old son found a stray pit bull. They had hoped the puppy would be adopted, but once at the shelter, he contracted a severe case of kennel cough. We managed to save him in the nick of time and get him into foster care. His name is Pokey.

Pokey has a vet appointment today and we're hoping it's just that, a bad case of kennel cough and not a severe illness like Princess's distemper.

Reunion is filled to the brim with Texas and Cali dogs right now at the refuge and can't handle another
huge expense.

We've created Pokey a chip in fund to raise money for his vet and spay/neuter expenses.

http://www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/rescue-pokey/79757

Both Princess and Pokey have Facebook pages where we post their updates and up to date costs for care:

Pokey's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Rescue-Pokey/621127397909191

Princess's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SavingPrincess

We have 16 dogs in our care at Reunion Rescue right now. We cannot do this work without your support. Please share these and all our other dogs's stories and consider a small donation to keep us up and running.

Please stop by and visit Nolan, LuLu, BeBe, Amber, Hildi, Vinny, Guido, Peanut, William, Cayenne and all the others.

All donations can be made on our website:

14 pit bulls at San Francisco Animal Control

....but only these two available for adoption:

What will happen to the other 12 dogs which the public never sees?

Even the most overfilled stressed shelters are allowing their dogs to be publicized and networked. Even Lancaster and Devore, some of California's most high kill shelters allow their dogs to be promoted by animal advocates.

Nobody is promoting these dogs in the back rooms of one of the most affluent cities in the country.

What will happen to these dogs?

Looks like one may be a chow/Jindo. They are afraid!  Can anyone help?  We all know dogs that show behavior like this at shelters and are fine once out and loved. Please network as beyond urgent. See below.

A1268772 – Chow Corgi – Needs placement by tomorrow at 7 pm.  Hides in back of the cage and growls.  Charges staff when they enter the cage for cleaning/feeding.  There is definitely some type of shorter breed mixed in.  These are the best photos I could get.

A1268876 – Has mammary mass, possibly tumor.  Needs placement with rescue now.  Will likely not
be extended due to medical issue and temperament.  Is not currently set for euthanasia, but could be at any time.

Nina is an owner surrender. Her owners had her for a month and decided that another dog was too expensive, so now she’s looking for a new forever home. Nina is a playful little girl. She loves toys, but her favorites are stuffed. She would chase balls but was happiest when I tossed a stuffed toy. She’d bring it back to her spot under the bench every time. Each time I threw it, she was up and running. I bet she fetched that squirrel ten times before I decided that we both needed a break on such a hot day. Nina is sweet and affectionate. Her owners stated that she’s good with kids and got along with a male dog at home. Nina really is a perfect little puppy. Come meet this sweetie today. Maybe you can give Nina the forever home she needs!

Paulo and Rio are super friendly dogs. Since they share a kennel and are both eager to come out, I did spend a little time trying to leash them. Once they were leashed, however, they were easy to walk together.

Nellie is a real catch for any person or family. She is an absolute sweetheart of a dog – even the staff at the shelter took the time to make a note on her info sheet about what a sweet girl she is. She greeted me perfectly quietly and politely, and walked like a pro on the leash – no pulling at all, and stayed right by my side.

A volunteer that takes pictures and videos for us, commented:
On my way out I asked a tech and front desk about mom and pups.  They are thought to be about 5 wks old. They are still there today and momma's date is not here yet.  She was friendly and had easily let a tech in her kennel to put her pups back in bin, when I saw her a few days ago.

Please be careful....many dogs are being pulled from this shelter and placed on huge transports going out of state and out of the country never seen or heard of again.

Please check and authorize all dogs going to a qualified rescue group which works with families and rescues with proven track records.

These two dogs were part of a cruelty investigation. They are ready for foster homes! Can anyone take them in?

Caci - neutered male, husky/collie mix, 6 mo old, 37lbs, great with other dogs, kids and people of all sizes. He will need a quiet place to rehab post surgery on his leg. He has a ruptured ACL and a torn meniscus. He won't be able to run post surgery but normal house pet is perfect.

Claude - neutered male, beagle, 10 years old, 17lbs, great with other dogs and people of all sizes. He will need to be fed desperately as he has growls when other dogs are around his food. He is HW-, current on vaccinations, microchipped and all ready for you!

Please let me know if you can take them in!

Chance, a dog who has been w/out a home for over half of his life -  382 days at the shelter!

August 13, 2013 - What exactly does it take to find a sheltered dog a home?
Professional photos which show a dog at their best? Photos which allow a dog's true personality to shine through?
Chance, a two-year-old bull terrier mix has beautiful, professional photos, but they have not lured an adopter.
Does it require a facility which will give a dog enough time to find a potential home?
Chance has spent over half of his young life at the Rockwall Animal Adoption Center in Rockwall, Texas, but during the past year (plus) nobody has been found.
