Perez Hilton: newly converted pit bull hater

Perez Hilton showing off recent weight loss, etc.
Yet another out there story about pit bulls lacking data and fact. This time, Perez Hilton took a u-turn out of Paris Hilton's underpants drawer checking to see what color she's wearing today and made a bee-line over to the pit bull hater's camp.

In the strory "Mother Saved Daughter From Pit-Bull's Vicious Attack By Biting Its EAR OFF! Get The Scary Details HERE!", Mr. Hilton joined forces with other hate bloggers like Dawn James of Craven Desires and Colleen Lynn of Dogsbite.org. He done 'em up real proud by misrepresenting the story and leaving out pertinent facts in order to promote a sensational piece seemingly designed to build hate and fear for the first native American dog breed, American Pit Bull Terriers.

"One mother-daughter couple from Alvin, Texas are both lucky to be alive.

And it's all thanks to momma Chelsi Camp's heroic maternal instincts.

The incident happened at the end of March when Chelsi and her daughter Mackenzi Plass were dog sitting a friend's pit bull. The dog had always been friendly, and yet on this day it ATTACKED Chelsi's daughter.

Here's what the mom said:

"The dog came up and he was just curious. When he smelled her, that's when you saw it flip because I think he smelled my dog on her."

As the dog mauled her daughter, the mother instinctively thrust her fists into the dog's mouth, bit its ear clean off, all while instructing her daughter to lie on her stomach so she wouldn't choke on any blood, AND managing to call 9-1-1.

Here's what the mother said of the terrifying ordeal:

"I only know to fight so how else do you get somebody to stop. I mean I would do the same thing with a human being."

When police showed up on the scene, the dog was still trying to attack the mother and the daughter. An officer shot the canine, and it was later euthanized.

As for Chelsi's daughter, she suffered severe head and facial injuries, but is slowly yet surely
recovering.

The mother said:

"I can actually hold her again. I couldn't hold her for the first week that was the hardest part. She's a strong little girl and a fighter. She's meant to be here."

The incident shook up the whole community, and the League City Police Department wrote on their site:

"Rarely do we get to know what happens after the emergency response is over. And there are some calls that haunt us for the rest of our careers."

We're just glad this mother and daughter are OK.

Both could have easily died, and probably would've if it wasn't for this brave momma's amazing instincts to survive.

She's absolutely a hero.

This story is more full of holes than an East Texas road from which it sprang in the first place. I'm personally sitting her next to a wonderful dog, Peanut, from the Alvin Shelter, but you won't read about Peanut or any of the other dogs being slaughtered in Alvin, nearby Houston and clean across the U.S.A. thanks to faulty journalistic efforts like Hollywood reporter at large, Perez Hilton.

Was the dog neutered and was there another dog on premises? A good journalist would present all the facts and not just ramblings which support a scandalous headline.

From the mother's own mouth before she bit off the dog's ear, "because I think he smelled my dog on her." Was her dog a female and was that dog intact? Most maulings can be traced to an intact male and intact female except when trying to track down missing facts in a media frenzy story of this sort. Suddenly, there are no facts and certainly no answers for an astute reader.

Most importantly, how did this woman get her mouth around a dog's ear and chew it off? If this dog was in full-on maul red zone, just how could anyone get their head in between the child and an allegedly uncontrollable situation and still manage to use the telephone? Something just doesn't jive.

I, for one, would like to know the whole story which might include some facts. Credit be given to Mr. Hilton for keeping us all informed regarding the goings on with Beverly Hills housewives, but do us a favor and when attempting to cover a story like this one which will kill 9,000 dogs today in shelters, get your gossip right.

  1. Well, I live in the area so we got more information about the case. I think its time for mom to stop patting herself on the back because in my eyes the whole incident is her fault. She is an apartment manager at the appartment complex where the attack happened. Also, that particular apartment complex has a policy that does not allow any pitbull breeds to be on the premise and in addition to that, the dog had already killed another dog on the property!!! Oh and wait till you hear this..... the dog she was "sitting" did not just belong to a friend, it belonged to her BOYFRIEND!!! She should be fired or even convicted for putting her 2year old child in a life threatening situation. I don't hate pitbulls but I am a firm believer that people should be required to have some kind of permit to own one, and no criminal history. The majority of people who own those dogs are exactly the kind of people who show characteristics that any dog should not be around. Pitbulls should be treated with direction and love and need to be socialized with other people and animals from a very early age. I'm not saying it will totally stop dog attacks but i guarantee the number of dog attacks will decrease significantly. As for the mom, its my opinion that she is at fault for having her baby around an animal that had already previously displayed that level of aggression and also for breaking the rules at her place of employment! You ma'am are NO hero!!!

  2. Thank you so much, Rosa, for providing actual facts about this case. I am curious as to the woman's own dog...was the dog a female and was the dog intact? Was the boyfriend's dog intact as well?
