Guido, BeBe and the lazy days of summer

Nika and Shelly came by last night to walk the dogs and it was a pure lovely summer night. I'm always amazed at how much these dogs appreciate a little walk and some attention.

Wouldn't it be a nice world if all animals were given a moment's pleasure? It doesn't cost much. Just a walk around the block and they are so happy.

Last night was an easy night as William went down to Low Water Crossing with Scott. Peanut's leg was under the weather and BeBe had enjoyed an earlier walk in the afternoon.

So....that just left Vinny, Guido and Amber....one for each of us girls.

Guido and I decided to take in a little bit of creek time this morning. He was very enthralled by the tadpole action there. We both got our tippy toes wet which takes the edge off the 103 degree temperature.

We're all cooling it down this afternoon and getting ready for a nice raw food meal around 3.

So ....lazy hazy crazy days of summer...zzzzz.

Today, Reunion Rescue's Meetup is watching Rebel Without a Cause with BeBe.

Yesterday, the pit bull haters in my neighborhood shot out my back car window. Karma will take care of the scumbags, but in the meantime we have something important to do. BeBe and the Reunion Rescue pit bull 'refugees' have never seen Rebel Without a Cause.

They've never seen James Dean, Natalie Wood or Sal Mineo, but they know a lot about angst. The Reunion dogs have all experienced terrible things like being starved, thrown on lit bar-b-que grills, drug behind a truck, blinded and worst of all, spent time at Spindletop hellhole.

BeBe says, 'where's the popcorn?'

We can't undo the past even with all our flower essences, herbal tinctures and sunshine walks on the nature trail, but we can watch 'Rebel Without a Cause' with our Reunion Rescue Meetup friends and anyone else who wants to join us.

All you do is turn on your tv and grab your pit bull. If you
don't have a pit bull, grab your dog or cat. If you don't already have a dog or cat, what's the holdup? Foster one! Believe me, there's no shortage. Great rescues all over the U.S. are begging for help with animals they've saved.

If dogs run free

Hotter than a tick in Texas this morning, but we're still doing our deal. The dogs want to be inside literally chillin' out, but I got to make them get their vitamin D...and daily dose of sunshine.

So, I turn up the radio and it's Mr. Dylan singing about dogs and running free....

....oh, winds which rush my tale to thee...

A wild and crazy day with pit bulls and other animals....

Reunion Rescue is running around like a chicken today. I picked Hildi up and dropped her off at Emancipet for spay surgery, microchip and shots.

Gave Hildi arnica 30c which eases any sweet dog through surgery and rarely requires any hard core pain meds. She was also dosed with Australian Bush Flower Essence Emergency to help her be calm during such an invasive procedure. We'll be dosing her with Waiora to counter the toxic effects and remove harmful metals from the vaccines.

Made it to Emancipet along with some soothing Loft music...we were groovin', me and Hildi. After I dropped her off in Emancipet's capable hands, I stopped by my good friends Hut's Hamburgers to throw myself on their mercy. Hut's turned 70 years old yesterday and God Bless Hut's as they say!

Hut's stepped up to the rescue for Reunion and will be hosting a wonderful benefit for Reunion Rescue in the next couple months. Please keep tuned. You'll definitely be hearing a lot LOT more about this.

It was pedal to the metal after that to zip it back to Reunion Rescue No-Kill Refuge to meet Mimi who valiantly came out to walk the pitties with a recovering sore knee. Thank you, Mimi and all our wonderful volunteers for making our lives happy, productive, thrilling, adventuresome and full of love!

Raising money and loving the bulls....shooting for the moon

This week like all weeks at Reunion Rescue No-Kill Refuge has been a whirlwind of activity. We are trying to raise money to buy a van so we can carry our healthy happy pit bulls to local events and show others how easy it is to feed raw, treat homeopathically and rehab with herbs.

Imagine if every shelter practiced what Reunion Rescue does every day on a shoestring. There would be no more animals in the shelters. All the animals would be healthy and robust with great behavior. Shelters could do outreach and share the good message with individual pet owners.

Hildi

We had a chase this week, but it is going well. A beautiful Malinois appeared at our doorstep out here at the lake. She looks to have recently given birth, so it's assumed her terrible owners kept the puppies to sell and dumped her to fend for herself.

This little one was quite skittish. I'm full here and it was a struggle talking my better half into letting me take on one more dog. By the time I got her a crate and food set up, she was gone.

The next two days were frightening. Cars whiz by like Daytona out here. In my Ash Juniper grove, I bury the squirrels, birds, cottontails and even roadrunners these newcomers to Apache Shores carelessly and heartlessly mow down in their haste to get to soccer practice or wherever it is they need to go. I personally wish they'd stay there and not come back.

Hildi was spotted by a neighbor, America. She got my number from a nearby friend and called for help. We are trying to raise money to take care of her spay and vetting. American Pit Bull Examiner wrote her a story and Hildi, named for the lovely character in Quentin Tarentino's Django Unchained,  now has her own Facebook page.

It was a way busy week, but the van has raised $65 and we're on our way to our $15,000 goal.

We saved Princess and Hildi who are now Reunion dogs.

We walked a bunch of 'refuge-ees'....Peanut, Wilco, Amber, BeBe, Vinny and Guido...loved on Girl and Tex and all the kitties and birdies.

LuLu and Nolan are doing fine in foster care and looking for that home together. We're gonna make it and thanks to everyone for tuning in and supporting the work at Reunion Rescue No-Kill Refuge.
