The Liebster Award

Ok, our newest bff nominated Pit Bulls and Other Animals for a Liebster Blog Award! For those of you, like us, who do not know what the Liebster Award is, please read the following excerpt from:

EMT April 10, 2013 at 9:05 AM Hello! Just stopping by to let you know I have nominated your blog for a Liebster award.

So our nominator is The Five Dog Blog

Please visit http://thefivedogblog.blogspot.com/2013/04/liebster-award.html for all the information!

So, we have a couple of minutes and here goes....

The following was excerpted from The Five Dog Blog:

I'm relatively new to the blogging world and was not familiar with the Liebster Award and what it

really meant. So I jumped on my trusty Google browser and started searching. Most of the entries were other blog posts from blogs that had also received this award, so it seems legit :). I like awards. And the Liebster Award is for bloggers with under 200 followers to help spread the word about their blog. I like followers :).
I figure it's kind of like a chain letter - a blogger to blogger award. And even though it's a chain letter, it's still fun to get to know other bloggers! Apparently, liebster is a German word meaning sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, and welcome. Seriously, that is a lot of  adjectives for one damn word! Maybe some of my German friends can tell me if that's a real translation or just chain letter nonsense.
Right, so time to pay it forward. Liebster rules:
  1. List the nominator's blog on your blog roll with a link.
  2. Answer a set of 11 questions asked by the nominator.
  3. Provide a list of 11 random facts about yourself.
  4. Nominate 11 qualified blogs (less than 200 followers) for the Liebster Award and let them know through a post on their blog page.
  5. Provide a set of 11 questions for the nominated blogs to answer.
  6. Display the award on your blog!

Questions for me to answer:

  1. Describe yourself in one word. Passionate
  2. If you had a time machine, would you travel to the future or to the past? Future when all dogs are saved!
  3. What is your favorite city? San Francisco when I'm in Austin and Austin when I'm in Frisco
  4. Do you write more than one blog? Sure do!
  5. What is your favorite time of day? Morning when I'm full of energy...
  6. If you could have lunch with a famous person, from past or present, who would it be? Bob Dylan
  7. Coffee or tea? (Or neither?) Coffee ... and tea, but mainly coffee
  8. What is your favorite flower? Carnation
  9. What do you like best about blogging? The pictures
  10. What is your favorite season? Fall in Austin, Texas
  11. What is your favorite movie? The Incredible Journey..the original with Bodger, Teo and Luath

Random factoids about myself:

  8. I try to be a vegan every day and fail
  9. ALF are my all time heros
  10. All the animals communicate with my friend who tells me what they say
  11. I am very spiritual

Questions for my nominees to answer:

  1. What animal would you come back as?
  2. What is your favorite food?
  3. What is your pet's name?
  4. Who is your hero?
  5. When you have only thirty minutes, what do you do?

LuLu and Nolan...a GREAT love story....

Nolan looking for love....
Nolan came to Reunion Rescue just barely missing having become yet another Spindletop victim. When we got Nolan, he weighed less than 70 pounds and was very sick. High heartworm positive among other maladies, Nolan has made a miraculous recovery.

Once he put some meat back on his bones, Nolan went to Doug's for lots of fresh air and exercise with the other dogs at the daycare. LuLu was abandoned at Doug's, but she was not sad for too long.

LuLu is a gorgeous GREAT Pyrenees and Nolan is a GREAT Dane/American Bulldog mix. These two have become best friends forever. The other day, LuLu had a much needed grooming appointment. Nolan spent the entire day looking for her.

What we've seen between LuLu and Nolan has prompted Reunion Rescue to only consider adopting Nolan and LuLu
LuLu and her Nolan...
together. They are large breed dogs, both with GREAT in their names. That's appropriate, because they are GREAT dogs.

Both dogs are raw fed, crate trained, mellow, super dog and people friendly and full, full, full of love.

LuLu and Nolan have a Facebook page:

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nolans-Rescue-Page/174957495973999?fref=ts

If you want to learn more about our incredible program, check out www.reunionrescue.com namely the Health Page.

Nolan and LuLu are available for adoption...together! Both are linked to our website.

Imagine sharing your world with these two lovebugs where every minute of every day is a joyful one.

Always happy...

Put on your walking shoes!

Guido, BeBe, Vinny, Amber, William and Peanut need walkers! If you live in the Austin area and like walking dogs, we need you!

Reunion Rescue No Kill Refuge is located near Mansfield Dam nestled between Lake Travis and
Lake Austin. Our beautiful and sweet doggies love to go on walks, but we just don't have the foot power to deliver.

We need you! Our volunteer program is lax so that you can adapt to meet your own busy schedule. Whether weekends or weekday afternoons are convenient, we will conform to meet your availability.

Reunion Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation.  Your volunteer effort can be adapted to any company's community outreach program.

Please consider volunteering with Reunion Rescue's wonderful doggies. We are known for having the 'friendliest pit bulls in the world.'

Visit Reunion Rescue online to find out more about our organization. Whether you are an up and coming pet entrepreneur, future dog behaviorist or just a plain ol' animal lover, we've got the dog for you.

What better way to enjoy the beautiful Texas spring weather than a hike with a sweet dog in what LBJ used to call 'God's Country.'

If you are not located in the Austin area, we can still use your help. We are always in need of online volunteers to spread the word about our program, holistic pet health, our meet up group and other animals in need across the nation.

Give us a shout today to find out more about our sweet dogs and Reunion Rescue.

Sweet snuggles from our sweet friend, Linda

Vinny is one happy dog!
Guido is a born snuggler!

Thanks to Linda for our beautiful soft blankies!

Little did anyone know we were expecting a late winter cold snap this year!

These warm snuggles got here just in time for Reunion's refugees to cuddle up.

BeBe waiting on the next meet up movie1
Amber's pretty in pink...

Peanut loves purple.

Reiki in the country day....

Kathi and Amber
Amber scoping out the view

Yesterday, our good friend Kathi from Simply Stylish and longtime Reunion supporter paid us a wonderful visit. Reunion got a little taste of how great life could be if we had a volunteer or two.

Kathi performed reiki on all the dogs and cats and we went on two glorious dog walks.

Amber, Kathi and William
William just posing

Peanut and Guido
Peanut being a nut!

Vinny loves reiki!

This visit was way too short and left all of us wanting more Kathi and more reiki! Please come back soon and pay another visit, Kathi!

Good times and sunny days!

Spring is certainly in the air at Reunion Rescue No Kill Refuge...our good friend Gloria donated two Kuranda beds which Guido and Vinny are making use of. Two more are on the way courtesy of Sandi and Cindy, yeah, me!

Reunion Rescue is very lucky to have the wonderful friends who make it possible to give these beautiful animals a new lease on life. Please do not think we don't appreciate the support of our good friends over the years.
Look at Vinny's ear to ear Kuranda bed grin!

Today is one of those days just bursting with new beginnings, what springtime is all about.

Peanut hiking it up!

Peanut posing....

Peanut enjoyed his mountain hike with cardinals and monarch butterflies fluttering overhead. And I can't tell a lie...I enjoyed it, too!

A Facebook page for every dog

It's been a busy time at Reunion Rescue No Kill Refuge. It took some doing, but in between feedings, walkings, freezing pumpkin bones and other chores, each doggie has his own or shared Facebook page.

Please take a minute to share with your networks and like our guys! Most of these precious dogs have never had a friend before coming to Reunion.

BeBe loves to watch old movies...and she's our star.
BeBe used to be Batgirl and was the first of our Spindletop refugees to make her way to safety. She is thriving and doing great on her raw food diet and herbal support. Looking way forward to getting some volunteer help and entering BeBe and some of the others in obedience classes.

Angel before he went Yankee on us....
Angel was the first one to go. We got him back from Spindletop and talk about bounce back! He was ready and raring to travel all the way to Minnesota to be with Barbara and Ms. Murmur who was adopted almost four years ago from Reunion Rescue.

Angel who is now called Hub Facebook page:

Amber..the love of my life...
Amber is doing wonderfully. We've kept her original page in memory of Stella who was rescued with Amber and died tragically at Spindletop. Whatever joy can be brought into Amber's world helps to honor Stella and move forward to a better place.

Amber's Facebook page:

Nolan chillin' at doggy day care...
Nolan was another abuse case who came within a hair's distance of winding up at Spindletop. Although Leah Purcell actually collected hundreds and hundreds of dollars for him, his transporter got wind of the raid and turned the car around.

Nolan is safely with Reunion Rescue and has gained almost 30 pounds...he is looking gorgeous!

Nolan's Facebook page:

Peanut on the trail!
Peanut was pulled illegally from Alvin Animal Control by Purcell under Reunion Rescue's 501(c)(3). We heard about this after the raid and seizure. Peanut used to be Feo...and who could name a cutie pie like him a word meaning 'ugly?'

After we got all the Spindletop refugees safe and on the road to recovery, it was time to bring our California dogs to Texas.
William is all smiles!

William was tortured, starved to bones, thrown on a lit grill and drug behind a truck before being dumped at one of the worst shelters in the U.S. Stockton. He is loving Texas and hits the trail on a daily basis.

William's Facebook page:

Vinny and Guido..best friends for life!

Last, but certainly not least, Vicente and Guido share a page just like their close friendship. Vicente came from Marin Humane Society who wanted to euthanize him due to 'human aggression.' Boy, we'd like to meet THAT human! This boy is about as loverboy as they get. Still scratching our heads over that assessment.

Guido came from Wasco and is all about the love. You literally have to peel him off to get him to go on a walk! He will sit and love you all day long if you give him half the chance.

Vinny and Guido's Facebook page:

Please take a minute to 'like' our pages on Facebook. One thing you can say about the dogs at Reunion Rescue and it's been said about a million times before....we really are the 'home of the world's friendliest pit bulls!'
